sorting views by proximity / distance

Issue Summary

Hello, would it be possible to sort events by proximity ?

I understand that it is possible to do it using the event zip code as a filter.

But as mentioned here http://drupal.org/node/120452 and here http://groups.drupal.org/node/929#comment-4167, it would be more useful if the filter was the event address (as geocoded by google maps) instead of the zip code.

Do you think it is doable? Or maybe that funtionality has already been released?
