Classic-Horror.com is my horror film review and discussion website. It's fairly popular and we've been a Yahoo Pick of the Day. Roger Ebert once mentioned us in his review for Jason X. As of June 15th, 2007 at 12:59PM PST, the site runs on Drupal 4.7.
I'd been hand-coding the site for eight years and eventually I decided that it was time for a change. I started planning on how to convert the site to a dynamic format. I tried coding my own CMS from the ground up, but the coding process grew frustrating. I soon realized that everything I wanted to do, I could do in Drupal. I finally switched the project to Drupal sometime after the release of the MovieDB project, which, with some tweaking, did pretty much everything I needed it to.
The process of transferring everything over was arduous and survived multiple changes to the site's overall structure (including a complete overhaul of the design). I will admit a few of the things I did to make the site fit my perfect vision are not good Drupal coding and do not take advantage of the system's modular nature. I plan to fix this when I eventually upgrade the site to 5.0. Lessons learned.
Modules that we heavily rely on include MovieDB, Views, Taxonomy, CCK, Contemplate, and Taxonomy Context. I plan on leaving the site on 4.7 until I get a better feel for running a live Drupal site. I'll take what I learn there and apply it to the 5.0 (or 6.0) version.

i like it
I like it. The design fits nicely with the theme of the site. Everything's easy to get to, and it looks like you've got tons of content. The only thing I'd change is getting rid of the login block on every page, it's just taking up space. You can still login from yoursite.tld/user/login when you need to.

Excellent suggestion and one I'm implementing. Thanks!
Totally agree with
Totally agree with JohnForsythe. If you still need login/registrater form, you can make a "trick" - use http://drupal.org/project/thickbox module for login/register form (see http://www.inventionmail.com/ - just click to "login" :-) )

Hello,
I love your site, I'm using the MovieDB module as well on my site but can't wuite figure out how to add a chatacter name and actor (eg, John McClane - Bruce Willis) to the script. I see that you have done that, I'd be very grateful if you could give me some pointers.
Many thanks, and best wishes,
Ian
