I have found that the meta description entered into the node edit form does not display at all. Instead the default shows. If I disable the default set in the meta config, then no meta description shows at all.

Is there something else I have to do to "activate" the meta descriptions to show properly?

D7 reached its EOL back in January 2025, and there is no active release for D7 for this module anymore.
Development or support is not planned for D7. All D7-related issues are marked as outdated in a bunch.
