Select Drupal Forums from the left sidebar, Click on a particular forum, then Click "Post new forum topic." What you'd expect to happen is that the forum you've chosen would be the default in the parent dropdown. However, there aren't any choices in the parent dropdown. If you try to save the post, it fails.

I just installed og_forum-5.x-2.x-dev, 2007-Jun-29. It does not fix the problem. I am running Drupal 5.1. When I disable OG forum, the Drupal forums work OK.

(I just posted this is a comment on http://drupal.org/node/141325 but think I should have posted it here instead.)

To make sure I know what you did: you went to http://www.yoursite.com/forum, correct? Then browsed however deep you want to the forum you want to post in (ex. jokes). Then click "Post new forum topic" and the drop down is not automatically selecting 'jokes'. Is that right?

And to clarify, are you using file versions equivalent to these: http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/contributions/modules/og_forum/?onl...

This is the correct stuff and is what I uploaded after I realized the mistake I was making as mentioned in #8 of http://drupal.org/node/141325.

One thing to note is my problem with urls as mentioned in that other thread. With that problem, I have no auto-select of the forum, just as you describe. The affected code is commented out in the CVS file mentioned above.

Please confirm that you're using the right files. The tarball has not been updated yet as Drupal's cron job runs every 12 hours to make dev releases. Let me know.

Thank you for your prompt response. I think I did download too soon and got the old version. The README.txt of the module I had was
1.5.2.1 2007/04/09 23:04:10
I downloaded it again.
README.txt now says: ,v 1.5.2.1.2.1 2007/07/02 16:03:34
and the problem is fixed.
