Currently we are without an upgrade path for D6 -> D7, and the only way to upgrade without breaking your 7 install is to fully uninstall DS from 6 before the upgrade.

At minimum, we should ensure that 7 installs it's schema correctly on the ds_update_7000 update, however I'd also like to investigate the possibilities for upgrading displays as well. Happy to contribute whatever is required here (especially from the 6 end), but my knowledge of 7 is limited.

Im leaving this one open for suggestions, at this point...

Since the D6 version has 5 regions, we could always pre-select the 3 column stacked template layout.

the missing upgrade path is really a problem, no? i have to rebuild tons of displays...
are you planning to build an upgrade path from drupal 7 to drupal 8? would be nice to know...

it's not radical problem. upgrade between D7 and D8 will depend hardly on what will happen with the layouts and blocks initiative.

Not going to work on this anymore. Will re-evaluate for D7 to D8.

I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place. I'm currently upgrading from D6 to D7. Before the upgrade I uninstalled DS as suggested above. The upgrade ran well but the status report shows "Install profile (displaysuite-)." Can anyoune tell me why this is coming up in spite of the uninstall? Can I just ignore this if I don't want to install DS on D7? or better, how can I get rid of this? I would really appreciate help on this.
