IMCE is a great and usable tool, but the sub-folder navigation and handling is a pain in the back when it comes to usability. Quickly browsing through any existing folders can be really slow. My advices:

  • Get rid of the dropdown selections, instead use folder icons and '..' for parent folder directly in the file listing
  • Make it possible to create any subdirectory by the user. Of course this should be another task assignable to roles (but let the editors create folders, making life easier)

IMCE is a wonderful tool, and IMO these functions would make it even better.

Wow, that was quite an old issue. And of course it isn't valid now anyway.
However it's funny to see my original issue being commented after almost 4 years :)
