Is this module abandoned?

i have exactly the same question. and i'm confused: team notifications has been updated as recently as may 2012 (http://drupal.org/project/notifications_team) but depends on and requires the notifications module!

Not supporting OG is a dead end.

I would like to know if I should install this module or not. Knowing if it is abandoned would be a game changer.

The problem is, there is not a real stable working module to do what this one does. But after all the issues I've had with it on Drupal 7, I eventually decided to abandon it.

That is a critical module, a really important one for collaborative en environment. I was surprised that this primary feature wasn't in core, even more that this module does not get all the support it deserves.
I am rather happy with it as it is.

There is an alternative, subscriptions http://drupal.org/project/usage/subscriptions but it does not seem to be in a better shape and does not integrate with OG - a definite stopper for me-

I think at this stage it is pretty safe to say that it is unmaintained.

A number of the maintainers are from Development Seed, who aren't a Drupal focused company any more so I would assume don't spent much time in the issue queues any more.

There has not been a commit for over 2 years and the support queue hasn't had much action.

Last time I tried the D7 version it was too incomplete to be useful.

There are still quite a few users of this module and no easy way to switch to something like the subscriptions module for existing notifications users (as far as I know, I haven't really looked).

It would be good to find someone that wants to maintain it but it is a pretty large module with a long list of open issues so it might be hard to find someone willing.

I'd be willing to help maintain Notifications. It's a huge, important module and I can't do it all myself, but I really need it to work properly on Drupal 7. So if no-one else wants to help, I will.

I have it working somewhat in D7, but it's a huge pain and we are about to re-write our own solution. Like it sends emails to blocked users which is causing problems for my client.

I really wish developers would just admit that they have abandoned it and not let things die a slow painful death.

I've been trying to get ahold of Jose Reyero on IRC to discuss. Maybe he'd be willing to transfer "ownership" of Notifications to a new group of folks.

@Nafes, if you have access and are willing to use it, that's good enough for me. I think the only thing Notifications really needs is someone to commit the patches people have written (and will continue to write, once they see that things are being committed).

Sure. I will definitely commit RTBCs and make new releases. My pleasure to keep this great module alive.
