I've recently moved my site from 4.7.6 to 5.1. I used to have a module called Taxonomy Browser installed, but its not available for 5.1, so I tried out Taxonomy Filter, Refine by Taxonomy and others.

When I install Taxonomy Filter, it install without error messages, but when I the add the Block in Site building -> Blocks, it doesn't actually display in the left column as intended.

The same thing was the case with the Refine by Taxonomy module, but if I add e.g the Who's online block or Who's new ... they show up as expected.

I'm a little confused by this and dont really know what to look for - any suggestions?

The block only appears on taxonomy listing pages (eg /taxonomy/term/x). Have you checked whether it appears on taxonomy listing pages?

Also, it will only appear on a terms listing page if you have configured that terms vocab to be filtered by another vocab. ie if the term in question doesn't have a vocab to filter against, you won't see the block.

I think taxonomy_browser is pretty much here for 5 too - see http://drupal.org/node/115890#comment-272274
