Great module! I would like to note though, that the process of connecting with Wordstream was frustratingly unclear. The UI indicates that you should click the provided link to get a Wordstream API key. The problem is, the experience on Wordstream's site is a complete disconnect. They have you create an account, and then they give you access to their free tools, but there is no mention of any API key. The account mgmt area is pretty scant, with just a link for changing the password. I did find a link on their site that mentioned API connectivity here (left hand nav) after I clicked into one of the free tools:

http://www.wordstream.com/keywords

Near the bottom of the page it mentions...

"But Where Can Get An API Key?

The "key" is the email address that you use when you sign up. The password is the password that you used when you signed up."

This is completely buried. It should be mentioned in the module UI where you click the link to go to the Wordstream site.

As wordstream are no longer supporting free API accounts for drupal users please switch to an alternative, preferably open-source keyword analyser.

Signing up for at least 3 different proprietary API's is a lot to ask for an open-source project.

How,

Wordstream username and password are demanded by wizard and there doesn't seem to be a work around? With their services starting at $399pm, this isn't really an option.

Can anyone advise, these seems to scupper the whole module set really.

Same problem, No API account. Can't register one: http://www.wordstream.com/keyword-tool-api-drupal

Stuck at admin/config/search/seotools/setup/1

Wordstream has ended their free api access as of a few weeks ago. I am not aware of any other free live apis for keyword research. For now the only free source for keyword research data is to use the Google Keyword tool import.

Hey all,

I encountered this problem as well, and was able to resolve the process by doing the following:

Navigate to Wordstream.com and sign up for the free trial account. (I know this does not say it is the Keyword API, and it indicates it is only a 5 day trial, but these credentials will give you access to at least finalize your setup wizard in D7).

Once you have registered your email and password, Wordstream will take you to an interface where you can elect to enter your Google Adwords username and password. At this interface, select the demo option as an alternative.

After selecting the demo option, your will go through a progress bar indicating account setup and configuration. Once this has completed, bounce back over to your D7 SEO Tools Installation Wizard under Admin -> Configuration, and use your Wordstream email and password to finalize the setup. It should now register your Wordstream account as active.

This should get you through the installation wizard, after which you can elect to use a different keyword analysis option.

Thanks this worked great.

I followed your instructions and got past the wizard. How do I change the keyword analysis option?

The Wordstream service was shut down. Am closing this in favor of #1679898: Remove support for defunct Wordstream service.
