sunHm. Somehow, that warning doesn't appear for me on latest Chrome 20.*
Comment #2
andypostSuppose this "feature" introduced latter, I'm using dev version.
Docs says that this included currently in beta 21 version
Also there's a suggestion to upload extension into Store and use inline install
Comment #3
adamdicarlo commentedJust ran into this on my Mac when trying to upgrade Dreditor. Yep, this is in Chrome 21+.
Solution
Drag the script from Finder/Explorer onto the Chrome Extensions page, as instructed on the Learn more page -- look for the collapsed Steps on adding extensions from other websites heading near the bottom.
It would be nice to have Dreditor in the Chrome Web Store, but I'm not sure it's necessary with such an easy work-around and the skill level of Dreditor's user base. sun?
adamdicarlo commentedHow about adding the work-around to the project page?
adamdicarlo commentedUpdated issue summary.
yannickooThank you adamdicarlo! Just drag it onto the extensions page, quite easy.
droplet commentedTried few times and doesn't work. I found the file name should be end with .user.js.
Failed:
dreditor.user(1).js
OK:
dreditor.user.js
OK:
dreditor(1).user.js
Comment #7
ericduran commentedThere's two choices here.
One: Everyone installs Dreditor manually using the chrome://extensions/ page. Which is going to suck for updating.
Two: @sun could host the user script on the chrome extension Gallery. This option also sucks, but at least everyone will get the updates. :-/
Comment #8
yannickooI think there is no other option than create an official extension in the Chrome Web Store.
sunI already looked into that, but the sign-up process for that is ridiculous — I'd have to formally/officially register as a verified "software vendor" and sign lots of crap with them... for a simple user script that's being developed and maintained for free? come on...
izkreny commented+1 for Google Chrome Webstore. ;)
yannickooSorry sun but I think otherwise nobody would get this :(
Comment #12
guguss commentedI've been testing the tampermomkey extension for Chrome.
But the Dreditor script doesn't seem to work... Using Chrome 21.
yannickooTalked to sun at drupalcon. I think we really should invest some time to update it because why should he get a developer account? That's not easy and I think that is absolutely okay. I think we should close this issue and sun should link the introduction on the project page.

sunComment #15
yannickoosun, why you are reopening this issue?
kalabroThanks for information!
Here is simple How-to screenshot: http://drupal.org/files/dreditor-and-google-chrome.png
Comment #17
yannickooOh, very cool. Thank you kalabro.
chx commentedsun, if you are OK with I can add to the installation section <li>In Chrome 21 and later, go to chrome://extension and drag the newly downloaded file to install it. <a href="http://drupal.org/files/dreditor-and-google-chrome.png">explanation picture</a></li>.
yannickooI think "In Chrome and later..." is enough because Chrome automatically updates itself.
chx commentedNot on my computer. That's only possible on... slightly less secure operating systems ;)
yannickooHow can you prevent this?
sunSlightly adjusted and added the instructions to the project page: http://drupal.org/project/dreditor
Still not happy about this. Will try to get in touch with Google/Chrome/ium folks when time permits. (does anyone have any contacts there?)
steven jones commented@sun would you be up for allowing someone else to pay the $5 and then keep the extension on the web-store up to date, or would you rather that you kept control of things and we wait until another solution can be found?
hanoiiThere's a misspell in the project page, it says chrome://extension where it should be chrome://extensions, only letting you know.
podarokdrag and drop method not working at 21.0.1180.89 m version :(
Comment #26
podaroksorry , bad hands ;(
all works fine
Comment #27
albert volkman commentedThe path for me is chrome://chrome/extensions/
Comment #28
hanoiiif you type chrome://extensions it works, it just goes to chrome://chrome/extensions/
Comment #29
sunSorry, fixed that. :)
leksat commentedWhy not add the Dreditor to the d.o site directly?
In my opinion, it will be pretty cool to have just one option in user profile: Enable Dreditor.
yannickooAlso a good idea!
podarokits better to add it into http://drupal.org/project/project
Comment #34
generalconsensus commentedSame with Chrome 22, unable to install
Comment #35
boombatower commentedWas wondering if this was resolved since I am unable to install it at all even downloading and dropping from local filesystem as suggested. I managed to install this on another machine, but I remember having to do something rather hacky after finding an article. Seems like this could use a proper resolution.
lolandese commentedOn Ubuntu 12.04:
Drag'nDrop method works on:
It doesn't (won't accept Drop) on:
Also tried the "Load unpacked extension..." button. The .js file is grayed-out (not selectable).
Re-opening. :-[

traviscarden commentedUntil a more permanent, automatic solution can be achieved, there are a few workarounds: How to install a private user script in Chrome 21+?. The simplest one is probably to start Chrome with the
--enable-easy-off-store-extension-installswitch, which worked for me on Chromium 24 Ubuntu 12.10:chromium-browser --enable-easy-off-store-extension-install.Comment #37.0

I was able to install the extension on Chrome 29 but the dreditor script doesn't run in the browser. Works fine in FF on same machine.
