Is it possible to have the settings applied to field_collection entity form also applicable in case of embedded widget?

Never tried that to be honest, never had the use case either so far. I'd say, try it out, if it doesn't work, let's leave it open as a feature request.
I'm not sure whether it's interesting though to have this on embedded widgets though (especially in say a node form)

I tried it's not working.
Field Collection Table Widget doesn't offer me my form shape. I can't even use hook_form_CONTENT_TYPE_node_form_alter to make the desired changes.
Can you just some other alternative to modify fc layout?

Patch in #9 works perfectly for me. Many thanks legolasbo! This has made my week.

I'd love to see this make it into the next stable release if possible. It's an great feature to have. I'm using field_collection and ds regularly now and this makes it possible for me to have nicely designed Bootstrap-powered field collection forms.

#9 works well. Its something that I was sure DS would provide but didn't. Embedded form rascals.
