Description

I'm trying to restrict access to menu items, but it does not work. I tried all sorts of things, but it only works if the target node is restricted. In my case I have a menu item that leads to a Gallery2 admin page, but even after placing the menu item under the Admin menu, as the child to another restricted menu item, it still shows up in the sidebar!!!! I'm so frustrated that I can't hide this item.

I have the exact same experience, which surprises me. The module worked fine a month ago, on a different installation. Has there been a new version since then?

Correction..it works half of the time. I'll have 2 menu items with the same settings, and one will be hidden, the other show up.

I am getting the same result. The first item continues to display improperly and additional items in the same custom block (second and third items) are properly suppressed.

This module did not work with me either. I have 2 menu items and I was able to hide one of them for the anonymous users, but the other is still showing.

I hope someone can help fix this,

Thanx

Well, strangely it stopped working for me too... I think it stopped when updating some other modules. Sorry, don't quite remember which ones.

Similar problem with the forum link - it won't hide for anonymous users. For other menus it works fine. See http://drupal.org/node/180759 for discussion on the durpal forum.

I just installed the 5.3 upgrade, and Menu Per Role stopped working. Aha, I said ... I need to repost the patch to menu.inc ... but even with this patch, it's not working.

So the question might be: what changed going from 5.2 to 5.3?

Meanwhile, I think I'll move my restricted menu options into blocks, and set block visibility based on role.

Ummm .... it's working.

(Note to self: when testing Site A, post patch to Site A's menu.inc, not Site B's menu.inc.)

Excuse me now while I wipe the egg off my face ...

ok it's working now
the problem is that the menuperrole module needs roles really assigned. i assumed initially that the user no1 was assigned all roles but they really must be assigned in the the personnal account page to wrok with this module. hope this helps!

I can't get it to work unless i turn the permission off for the url for the role you don't want to see the menu item. trouble is i don't want to do this! i haven't upgraded to 5.3 yet

I also can't get this mod to hide my menu item that goes to the forum. Anyone else run into this?
