I think that I cannot execute JavaScript in the Site Footer. I need this to get statistics (AWStats). It is very important to be able to execute JavaScript/PHP/whatever in all areas of a Drupal site, like the footer, the primary and secondary links, et cetera.

Do not use the "critical" category unless a bug is causing your site to throw a major error or breaking your site entirely. Also, please be aware that in this issue you are requesting a feature... not reporting a bug. The site footer is not designed to allow for javascript at the moment. You are requesting that support be added. This is very different from reporting a bug, wherein something that is designed to operate in a certain way is failing to do so.

Back on topic, I would agree with you that the "mission" and "site footer" fields should be capable to being set to content types just like all other entry fields within Drupal... this would improve consistency and allow for site admins to use PHP (and JavaScript) to quickly code scripts.

The primary and secondary link explicit entry boxes are probably going away in Drupal 4.7 in favor of a menu-system-based method of specifying primary and secondary links. I do not believe we should encourage their use for javascript, php, or anything other than links, as doing so would only encourage site admins to create dirty hacks which will be broken or break the upgrade process to the new system.
