This version uses <pre> tag only. The {syntaxhighlighter ...} syntax as in 6.1x is not used anymore. If you have been using the 6.1x version of this module, do not upgrade to this version. They are not compatible and there is no upgrade path.
If you have not been using this module and you are just now installing it, this is the recommended version to use. Again, if you have already been using 6.1x version of this module, stay with that 6.1x version.
However, there is an upgrade path from 6.1x to 7.2 of this module when you upgrade your site to Drupal 7. See #1673182: {syntaxhighlighter} to PRE Converter. It will automatically update your contents from {syntaxhighlighter ...} tags to the <pre> tags and makes things compatible with version 7.2.
