I am also requesting that the 5star CCK field be capable of anyone voting on the node. I have a need for both a general and a specific rating on certain nodes.
I realized that I use the votingapi field. Originally the Voting API fields were'nt showing up in the view edit. Now it seems to work...sort of. Sometimes it disappears when I edit the view, and I have to delete and re-add it. I believe this is because the view edit page doesn't fully load sometimes. It is currently unstable when making changes to views, but usable. This is probably not a fivestar issue at all, but a views and/or votingapi issue or an issue with my hosting service stopping before fully loading the view edit page.
I still have a desire to get fivestar ratings by the community (not just by the author) on cck fields. I have tried a patch which didn't work for me. I have another post for this on issue #126681
Download the latest Dev Version of 5star and use the "smart" stars. You will see what I mean once you download it. Click " View All Releases" on the 5star page.
This request has gotten a little out of hand. I think the original request is to let any user use a CCK field to vote on a node, which isn't the purpose of the CCK implementation. You can use the direct rating widget to let end-users vote directly on nodes.
Somehow views integration ended up in this issue also. If still experiencing problems with views, please open another support request with a more specific description to prevent this sort of fragmented discussion. Thanks!

stg11 commentedAlso the CCK fields need views integration: they don't show up in the filter fields or sort fields.

See the features requests section for patches relevant to anonymous voting.

You don't use the Fivestar CCK Field in Views to sort/show rating. You use the VotingAPI Field.

I have a few Fivestar CCK fields in a custom node and am trying to sort it without success.
Using VotingAPI doesn't work. Looking into the VotingAPI table in it, I didn't see anything in it.
