Hello,

Just noticed Cache Expiration today that aims to detect content changes and provide events for various caches:
http://drupal.org/project/expire

So, instead of this module trying to detect changes in Views items, perhaps this task can be offloaded to Cache Expiration.

There isn't any current integration points with Expire. Their only exposed API is URL-based for cache expiration. I don't see what we would do here.
