A quick glance at the various separate reported issues here indicates that this module is not working as expected "at all". And several issues seem to report the same type of problem, but without feedback or even merging (closed-as-duplicate) of issues.
The last -dev release was in January.

Therefore, 2 questions:
1. Is this module currently maintained?
2. Does the current (beta) release reflect the actual status of this module?

Agreed. Unfortunately this module's maintainers are obviously busy elsewhere.

Personally the issue queue looks too daunting for a non-dev like myself to risk using the module in production. Are there any alternatives for field level perms ?
