Sorry. I didn't find yet a solution for this encoding problem I have been actually having since months despite lots of search.

I am using MimeMail 5.x-1.x-dev and Simplenews 5.x-1.x-dev.

My customer's site is in French so sending out the newsletters in French is the default.
When the newsletter bulletin is sent out, it shows up fine.

When someone subscribes to the newsletter on the site (via the registration form), he gets a confirmation email which is not encoded right. French accents do not display as they should. Garbled. Same for html. Garbled too.

Questions?

Am I the only one having problems with encoding in other languages than English?

Does it have to do with MimeMail module or Simplenews module?

Are these modules still supported today like before?

I'd love to find a solution to this problem I have been having for some time now.

What would be the recommended solution?

Any suggestions will he highly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Jean

I will investigate this during the development of Simplenews for Drupal 6. It looks like a wrong (or missing) encoding of the email address.

Drupal 6.x core has re-written the mail handling which probably solves you issue.
Closing the issue. Feel free if you still need assistance in Simplenews 5.x
