on the admin page I enabled:
Enable geolocation options
For use on mobile devices.

the Locate by IP Geolocation button shows up when I am on my laptop. The button has no effect

It should not show up when I am viewing from a desktop

You should also enable "Enable check for mobiles" which will enable a check for "HTTP_USER_AGENT" in The User Agent regular expression which should detect wether or not the request came from a mobile device.
