I've just upgrade to 1.8 and see two things:

Scroling is broken even under default theme.
When i join chat, refreshing messages is extremally slow and i don't get all of them until something is written.

Chat Room does not seem to work well with the default them, but it works well with Bluemarine.

I couldn't reproduce the scrolling problem. When messages overflow the chat panel, the scroll bar appears. However, I did find that message updates would generate a JavaScript error when alerts are disabled. I fixed that in CVS commit 83917. Please try enabling alerts and see if that fixes the problem.

Switching to Bluemarine theme doesn't change anything.

But after enableing alerts both things are working well.

All that diff, cvs, path ect. are so complicated...
If you give me improved chatroom.js I can check it on my site.
