As i originally outlined at http://drupal.org/node/183378, the system module for the latest 4.7.7 upgrade package has "4.7.8" at the top of the file while I believe the latest core version is 4.7.7 (or at least the folder downloaded from Drupal says 4.7.7).

This version is not supported. Reopen or create a new issue if the problem exists in any recent version (version equal or above Drupal 5)
