apply for job functionality

Description
The module worked very well until recently. I did not want job seekers to apply for a job and had removed that permission (and removed manage applications) from the module through permissions. Now the "apply for a job" appears again and the permissions have not changed. Are there any other modules that conflict with jobsearch that could override the settings?
