This looks really promising. I have a quick question. As I understand it, the individual images are not stored as separate nodes which would allow for a lot of flexibility in reusing the images and for creating customized views. Do I have it right? If so, are there any plans to go in that direction?

I ask because I currently use the set up outlined here: http://drupal.org/node/144725

What it lacks is a nice gallery presentation like you have done and the ability to upload multiple images.

You are correct, each node contains a set of images, which allows for a lot of flexibility. Though I plan on adding a lot more "views"-like features, right now all you can really do is change the sorting algorithm.
