List View is over ridden

Description
I enabled a views multiblock and set it as "list view" with a special views multivew argument. It doesn't display anything like a views list view--it looks like views multiblock is overriding the normal theming of the list view.
I have to admit that I don't understand the finer workings of this modules, so perhaps I'm missing something.
