I notice, after installing the latest Cartaro version, that the Drupal needs a security update. Is it ok to update Drupal as usual, by overwriting the files with any updated versions? Are there any Drupal system modules or files that shouldn't be changed because they are customized for Cartaro?

You can update Drupal core as usual, Cartaro doesn't modify Drupal system modules or files. Make sure [drupal]/profiles/cartaro still exists after the update.

We'll also try to release new Cartaro versions for security updates ASAP.
