Agaric took a look in i18n for Drupal 6 and happily noted that it will provide the option to "localize" terms to have translations for a single tid rather than joining terms each with their own tid to form a sort of translation.

We'd like to do this as a contributed module for the Drupal 5 version and are mostly inquiring about how best to provide an upgrade path to the Drupal 6 version.

Feedback, expressions of interest, abstract impressionistic performance art, etc. all appreciated.
