After a lot of search and contemplating upon my requirements, I have zeroed upon a few companies.
My requirements:
1. Shared Hosting for testing purposes but must have FFMPEG in their shared plan
2. A host that has a VPS, and if the need arises then I am allowed easy upgrade.
For my first requirement some hosting companies are

http://cheapwebhostinghouse.com/
http://www.apthost.com/
http://www.amhnetwork.com.au/
http://cirtexhosting.com/
but the ones that have a VPS plan are
1. www.Vexxhost.com
2. www.cirtexhosting.com
Does anybody have any ideas about these two hosts. If yes then it would really nice if you could share the same here.
(I have also come to know that www.Dreamhost.com and www.Site5.com install it on request on shared plans. Do tell me if they may be a better solution.
Also if you have any other references to make then please do the same).

Hi, I just got 1 month
Hi, I just got 1 month sharing hosting (the standard plan) from Cirtex for ffmpeg testing purposes. 1 click drupal install, video conversion works just nicely. Speedwise... I'm at the other end of the planet, so when's late morning in Chicago (their datacenter I believe) and night here the clips are crawling...
I did another test at 3AM there and 5pm here, a new 15MB clip stopped a couple of times for buffering.
What I would suggest is to get 1 month account and test.

Unfortunately I didn't continue testing with them, the speed put me off. Then I got another test account with imageleet. Initially the server needed some extraconfig (php and mysql), but the support was very helpful and fixed everything. Uploaded about 100 clips, looks fine for now. The only downside is I can't process more than 3 clips per cron run :-(

But the 3 clip per cron is an issue. Actually I want my users to upload videos, hence could be more intensive.
But can you tell me that is this limitation applicable to VPS as well. Also please update if you come across a really suitable host.

Decided on Imageleet.
I decided to go with imageleet.
Are there any specific mysql and php changes to be done?
Actually I loaded some flvs via ftp as well but they do not play on the mainserver, whereas they did so on local. Also I am yet to find how to configure ffmpeg.
Can you suggest anything to solve this.

I'm using http://hosting-marketers.com/ and the support is very good, before I was at apthost and the uptime was not so good.
There is another company http://cheapwebhostinghouse.com/ but the plans they have are rather small, the only advantage is that they accept even for the basic plan a monthly subscription, so if you want to test a script this host could be the solution.

You keep posting the exactly same text all over the net on all the forums. It's time to change it, dude, it's getting stale. FYI uptime with apthost/cirtex/imageleet is good.
And why are you keep saying "There is another company"? It's the same company, it's written with big letters on your page!

I agree, Imageleet has been good for me till now.
It has good uptime, fast responses and staff tries everything to help you.
Having said that, it is just my first month. I hope they remain so with time.
