I have been a Drupal User and front and back-end developer since the late 1990's and one thing that I have waited for was a more comprehensive means to install modules. Even until 7.x developers still have to manually search for some of the most fundamental modules. A wise choice would be to have a links in modules with the leading http://www.drupal.org/[module_name] where the missing module can be cut and pasted or even found with links to the pages. This will save a considerable amount of time integrated into the system instead of having to sort through hundreds of modules that are in various states of development. This is just a thought because I counted over several hours wasted searching for the precise module that was actually completed in functional after reading thought legions of text.

I just wanted to interject this bit of info because of this reason my last IT Director chose WordPress over Drupal 7 even though Drupal is by far a more functional product.

Thanks

I have used both wordpress and Drupal, based on my experience with both platform I can say both serve very different target market.

Your IT director choose wordpress becasse he does not like plugin system of Drupal, thats amazing to me.

Plugin system of wordpress is not better than Drupal et all. Even if you decide to use 'Drush' it gives you flexibility like 'yum' gives you on 'centos' and 'apt-get' gives you on ubuntu.

Drush automatically download all dependencies of any module.

In wordpres, they do not have concept of beta, dev or production. This may sound simple but definitely not a standard way of managing development cycle.

After a meeting we discovered the whole WordPress thing having more to do with simplifying matters so that more departments can have a hand in managing online resources. An exercise in cross-training I guess. As expected we ran into a problem with the use of WordPress as a social networking system and it has proved to be far more troublesome than Drupal.

Just started using drush and love it.
