A - can Dan post to the translation group 2 messages?

the required operational info for both the page translation and the interface translation i understand this is two different tools

( something we can refer to as a " survival kit message how to do translate page - how to translate interface

B -can Dan also give a trial version of a comprehensive table of the interfaces - exported to text format?

so it can be sent out of the site for translation that is another option that might prove useful if people in the group do not get around with option A

C - may be it would be good to have a reminder of the language selected somewhere untill menus get translated because at the moment we do not know which language is supposed to be active
Benjamin Melançon a dit : if you look in the URL, it's there -- fr, ca, eng, etc.
Pierre George a dit : well people wont necessarily look there ... -

also a warning in the appropriate language may help eg in spanish :"el idioma selectionado por el momento es "espanol"- si Ud ve cosas en ingles es que no han sido traducidas todavia pueden contactar traductores en xxxxxxxxxxxx"

this could be in the banner zone
Benjamin Melançon a dit : it would be better if we just translated things...
Pierre George a dit : of course but this will take time .....and this warning is valid untill 100% of the interface is translated ;)

: In Drupal this is called translation versus localization - it's Content versus User Interfaces
http://drupal.org/translators - broad overview, how it works
-- here's that localization link: http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/locale

ok - so decision: activate module, send a few indications so we can get working on it; add the necessary other languages (hindi, swahili, russian, arabic)
0. .Jason I'm sending a first message to the translation group so we can start working, but need to have assistance especially at the beginning

what to do to get going now ?

[11/11/2007 21:37:14] Jason a dit : http://drupal.org/node/191196 - 3 items for getting the translation of menu and pages going
[11/11/2007 21:37:37] Jason a dit : This is something Dan is supposed to work on, right?
[11/11/2007 21:39:45] Dan Hakimzadeh a dit : I can translate the top menus so that they change when language is selected, but I will need the translations
[11/11/2007 21:39:56] Dan Hakimzadeh a dit : for HOME, MEDIA CENTER, HELP DESK, etc
[11/11/2007 21:43:08] Jason a dit : Can you list all the words/terms you need translation for in a separate ISSUE task?
[11/11/2007 21:43:34] Jason a dit : (or actually as a comment/answer to the one cited above)?
[11/11/2007 21:44:35] Dan Hakimzadeh a dit : sure,

A. We are not yet on the translation group. Could we have the contact information-- posted here if it is public.

Dan posted the content translation steps here: http://agaricdesign.com/note/translation-how-wsf2008

There are two videos for basic user interface translation:
http://www.developmentseed.org/blog/2007/oct/05/translating-strings-drup...
http://www.developmentseed.org/blog/2007/oct/26/new-features-and-improve...

B. We can output .po files but onsite translation is better to target what is needed. We will attach or link to it here.

C. File a separate issue and get a consensus. Thanks!
