Can you search more than two terms?

Search works fine with two words but when you do three you get unmatched results. Are you supposed to be able to do more than two words?

I've noticed that you can do more terms than two, but the first one seems to get lost. It also seems that the multiple terms are not using AND, so you get all profiles that contain at least one of the terms. To be honest, I'm not sure how to solve this. If anyone has any ideas on modifying the search code, please let me know.
