When the user clicks on the "View Changes" button, all Hierarchical Select values are discarded from the node.

Does this happen with Preview option too? Or is it limited to just the View changes?

Term values are lost on "Preview". Also lost if the Diff module is installed and "View changes" is used.

To replicate, create a nested taxonomy and corresponding field on a content type. On edit, select a nested term and preview the page. The terms are lost.
