I have two image styles with an overlay difference between them. I would like to use rules to set which image style should be used. Is there any way to do this with rules today?

I am working on the same thing.

I am currently using two modules to help with this: Field Formatter Conditions and it's dependancyField Formatter Settings.

All looks good to me, but being new to Drupal, setting up the rule is tripping me up. Having turned on rules log messages I can see this error "Unable to get variable node, it is not defined."

Any and all help with this will be gratefully accepted...

Field Formatter Conditions, which was suggested in #1, seems to do exactly what you need. Help in using that module should be obtained in the issue queue for that module.
