I have made a screenshot where you can see a 3 cases:
1) at the top - voted UP (voting Down looks the same)
2) middle - not voted yet
3) bottom - voted Up, then voted Down.

The module is not at all tested with Opera yet. Sorry, but I will have to give priority to Firefox and Explorer...
Changed the title to reflect this - please let me know if it's incorrect. And please file a NEW bug with a NEW screenshot if problems happen with a different browser.

Closing this issue, since simple_karma is now obsolete.
Please reopen the issue in extra_voting_forms if the problem is still there!

Remember to entitle it "UI: Up/Down voting starts new line when voted Down in Opera" if you do...
