BradTheGeek commentedI do not know what caused this or if it is repeatable, but I fixed it by removing the Social Media and Widget modules and re-installing and configuring them.
If anyone wants more information on what was happening please let me know.

FrazerKirkman commentedUninstalling and reinstalling didnt work for me.
And I had to mess around for a while to make the social icons even work again.
However, I figured out how to make them not display there - you have to go in to Structure > Widgets and then edit > Visibility > content type and turn them all off in there.
Adding them to Structure blocks is where they are displayed, so they dont need to be visible in the place mentioned above.
