Just a general question - does anyone know if we'll be able to run Core Updates in Drupal 8 via a semi-automated setup within Drupal itself, much like the way Drupal 7 handles module updates? I'm really curious about that. I realize it's a long way off, but still would like to know if possible.

Thanks for any references, ideas, thoughts, whatever.

It sounds like those folks who are able to be involved are stretched thin on other items, and not able to focus on this one. It would seem to me that such a "core" functionality would be important enough that some of the more "core" folks could shift focus to knock it out before working on other seemingly more "feature" items. But I'm not able to be involved enough to fully understand what is going on.

Either way, thanks for the reference.

Drupal 8 is now in feature freeze, which means that this feature won't happen.

Thanks for mentioning that detail. When I had searched a little about Drupal 8, and clicked links from the main page, etc, I didn't see any specific "this is where we are in Drupal 8 development as of today" articles, only outdated ones showing the future time-line. So this helps me know for sure not to keep up any hopes along those lines for D8.

Thanks.
