Good question or not?

p.s. still haven't tried this module - will try next day, but from the documentation it seems that everything can be achieved with properly configured mult-child-parent taxonomy + HS or SHS module, right?

Based off of what I read at http://drupal.org/project/hierarchical_select

Drupal 7 version
The Drupal 7 version integrates with:

Taxonomy (Drupal core)
Menu (Drupal core)
Please see TODO.txt to see what still needs to be ported.

Thus, it does not yet integrate with: Forum (Drupal core), Views, etc.....

Hierarchical Select has no integration with Views. Views Dependent Filters is used primarily with views, and not just taxonomy, so you can setup filters that are based on one another; which is perfect for large amounts of data with tons of filters.
