I'm getting the following error message while subscribing/unsubscribing from user account tab (using Profile2):

The website encountered an error while retrieving xxx/user/241/edit/simplenews. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

Is there any incompatibility with Profile2 or any workaround this issue?

Please notice that this is not happening for 'Administrators' (using admin theme), but only for the registered users (with an Omega sub-theme, indeed this is not the cause of the issue, because it also happen with the default Bartik theme).
