Have you ever considered marrying up the Buddy API Project with Chat Room (http://drupal.org/project/chatroom) Project? I would be awsome to see the ability to invite online/offline users/guests/future members. I have both modules on my site www.insanefishingclub.com and they are both great, but would be spectacular working together.

Do you mean, to invite users to a specific chat room? i that case, it would be a chatroom issue to provide a link on a users page.
