I've hunted high and low to solve this problem and was pointed in the direction of this module.

I would like to add a class to the label of every field in a particular entity type on the node create entity form

Can DS do this?

Yes ds can do this, install ds, ds UI and ds extras module. And play around a bit, look in particular for field templates. There are screencast available online if you google a bit. If you need more help please use http://drupal.stackexchange.com/
