I have tried searching for this, but haven't found much, so here goes.

I just converted a PHP-Nuke site using Waldo's Converter.

All of my phpbb topics and posts were converted over and look great. I have three containers that users can post a message to. Is there a way to restrict or lock down access to one of those containers to prevent anyone from posting a message in there? Kind of like an announcements forum?

PHP Nuke is not PHPBB. If you converted both PHP Nuke and PHPBB, I would read up on Drupal access control. You can define roles in Drupal and assign rights to create content, edit own content, edit content, and delete content for content types and forums. Content types are another area I would read up on especially CCK (Content Construction Kit).

I understand that PHP-Nuke is not phpbb. The forums on nuke were phpbb though, which is where my question lies in it's counterpart on drupal.

I'll take a look at CCK.

On a side note I've spent about 4 hours and have an entire nuke site converted, including an old version of Gallery that I now have running the 2.2 version of Gallery. It really is easy to set up! Locking it down, well that's another story :)

http://drupal.org/project/forum_access should allow you do what you want as it gives finer control over forum permissions.

That was exactly what I was looking for. Worked great!
