Add possibility to tag users in status updates

+1 for this feature. Would really be a great feature in my opinion. It'd be even more impressive if you could use the @ sign in any type of content.

Mentions seems like a great module, however it doesn't do the auto populate people are used to in Facebook

I agree that this would be a great feature. In general, we should consider integrating this into Message Notify/Subscribe so that we can standardize our stack for notifications (sending and end-user UI) as much as possible.

Has anybody worked on this? We are looking at it for a project and don't want to be redundant.

Any update on this? This is something that I'd love to be able to incorporate. Has anyone gotten "mentions" to work on their commons site?
