When I turn on the pathauto module, all images are removed from all nodes. I use the image assist with image filter tags. Once pathauto is turned on, the node renders without the images.

Seems like no one else is able to reproduce this bug. Please update to the latest versions of Image, Image assist and Pathauto modules. Based on this report, I can hardly believe that it has anything to do with Image assist, because Image assist does not embed images based on the current URL.
