We need some help with Location.

We want to implement location based search. For example a drop down that says 5,10,20, 50 miles from (your home zip code) and have certain events in this range show up. How is this done with location. How can I set this up.

Right now we are using the Address and Zip code fields for the CCK module. But it is unclear on how they connect with the location module. Do they?

In addition, I want to have at least home zip code and work zip code displayed on certain profile pages not necessarily on the user page.

I really need this as well. I know there are some PHP classes for figuring zip code mileage but the only thing I can find you must pay for the script.

If I understand correctly, you are using the address and zip cck fields, which I dont think interact with this module. Location has it's own cck field which includes fields like country, zip, street address, state, etc.

sounds like ultimately you would add cck fields to your content type. One location cck field for home, one for work, and then require or allow the zip code for both. But the zip code proximity search for cck location fields is a work in progress right now.
