I hesitate to open an issue on this, as it is pretty minor -- so, at the risk of stating the obvious, feel free to ignore/close out:
To recreate this, follow these steps. For my testing, I used the upgraded version on g.d.o --
So, go to http://groups.drupal.org/node/add/og
1. In the Subscription Requests section, the default is Subscription Requests are Open, and the group should be listed in the Group Directory -- this is shown in default.png, attached to this issue.
2. Click Moderated under the subscription requests -- this enables the Private Group option -- note that the "list in directory" option has not changed -- this is shown in click_moderated.png, attached to this issue.
3. Click the checkbox next to "private group" -- this is now selected, and "list in directory" is grayed out and selected -- see list_grayed_out.png attached to this issue.
Because I was testing on g.d.o, I don't submit the node as I didn't want to go messing around with g.d.o -- Possibly, when this saves, the list in directory setting gets changed to false. Either way, though, it's confusing from a usability place.
My suggestion: when private group is selected, automatically set the "list in directory" setting to false, and then gray it out.
Like I said, this is small, and something you need to try and break -- feel free to ignore :)
