gallerix 5.x-1.1

This is the long awaited 1.1 release of Gallerix for Drupal. A wide variety of changes have been implemented, and many new features have been added. Read below for a list of new front end features.

Additionally, lots of improvements have been made to the innards. The code has been split into two files for easier reading, and many functions now have detailed comments. The code is now better structured as well. Finally, many new utility functions have been added to avoid rewritten code.

Development on Gallerix 1.2 is already underway. This upcoming release will be the last major version for Drupal 5. After that, all development efforts will shift towards porting Gallerix to Drupal 6, and updating it accordingly. In other words, if you wish to see a feature in Gallerix for Drupal 5, now is the time to ask.

New Features

• Grid View: makes browsing an album infinitely easier.
• Basic Layout Control: rearrange where everything goes using weights.
• Style Selection: you may now select between two different styles, or provide your own custom stylesheet. The Standard style is still available, and a new style, Edgeless, has been introduced. Edgeless can be seen on this site.
• Blocks have been added. Blocks consist of a Latest Pictures block, and a Random Pictures block. These blocks do not respect node access, so disable them if you plan on restricting access to nodes.
• ZIP extraction is now done through the PHP library.

Fixed Issues

• Teaser pictures now link to the album correctly | Zarei.
• Picture deletion is now clearly marked | MuslimGuy.
• EXIF available only if function exists | MuslimGuy.
• Images smaller than target resolution will be displayed | igorzh | lemmy.
• All Photos link now only appears on albums | igorzh.
• Sorting by filename works correctly | Roman.

Known Issues

• Picture addition is still less than intuitive. The whole system will be reworked for 1.2.
• IPTC and EXIF extraction is still spotty. Disable it if you expect to support multiple camera models.
