Did you ever get this implemented? I am trying to get something similar organized right now.

Big apologies to all... I thought I knew how to use Drupal.org, but for anyone who ever has their own module, issues posted against it do not show up in http://drupal.org/project/issues/user (until you post to it as for any other issue) but instead at http://drupal.org/project/user – a link I didn't even know about until today.

The most recent code is attached, but I will be rolling in some fixes to an (unused) administration page and releasing the code properly through Drupal.org's CVS and packaging system, which is still very painful for me.

This module is in use with some success at http://wsf2008.net but may be a cause of a possible performance issue there, so if anyone has good experience at isolating causes of resource use that would be a huge help to the World Social Forum and possibly this module.

It's most unique feature, so everyone understands, is that locations can be created on the fly– a definitive definition of the world's regions isn't necessary to start, you can let your users create them, and clean things up with Taxonomy Manager (still some issues to work out between the two modules, but it can work).

Thank you all for your interest.

Hi Benjamin,

I am trying this module again, other issue is may be gone with jquery 1.2. One feature I really would like and thought that this module gave was:
"having the locations shown in the location module to be preselected by the user"
So if someone start typing arg.. argentina is shown up in the country screen of the place vocabulary field.

because lots of locations are already in location module, right? Is this possible with this module?
Thanks a lot for your reaction in advance!

EDIT: made specific issue for this: http://drupal.org/node/278155

Greetings,
Martijn
