Actually it should not be a bug, but I'm not sure what is going on there. What I'm not sure is how to use "translation tab" in categories.

After clicking "new translation", I can see "Language current translation change translation" above a table. Since I set 3 languages, there are 3 rows of "--" below current translation and 3 rows of blank pull-down menu below change translation.

I hope these categories can be handled just like nodes with i18n module, say, a category with a name of "Films" in english can have a correspond translation "映画" in Japanese.

Would anyone tell me how I can manage these "blank pull-down menu"? Thanks!

PS I'm using 4.6.0.

Interesting you should ask this. . .because I recently emailed Jose regarding a similar matter. Contact me, I would interested in learning about your site. Just use the contact form in my profile. From what I can see (couldn't find documentation on the subject), translations of taxonomies are a 1:1 relation between the languages. Say we have "animals" and "動物". First define each term in their applicable language. Then you should be able to add the translation in the screen you mentioned. Note however that this creates 2 parallel taxonomies, one for english and one for japanese nodes.

In my case I wanted to have a UI translation for the taxonomy word itself, without any dependance on the language of the node. Unfortunately it appears as though I can't really do this. . .

If anyone has any input on the matter, I would be interested in hearing it.

Next time I would recommend posting in the support (How do I?) forum. There is more exposure there, plus this is not a bug.

Let me guess, there are only 3 guys who use this great module practically, Jose, you and I :-(

Jose, tons of thanks for your module! To tell the truth, i18n.module is my only reason why I stick on Drupal! Without your great jobs, Drupal would not be my choice for CMS. Well, the poor forum is one of the worst element on Drupal.

dtan, I've been trying to set up a kind of tutorial site. On this site, I'll introduce something in 3 languages, Chinese, English and Japanese. On our issue, I have to set a category like "动物/Animals/動物". LOL, yeah, I know it's ugly but what else can I do?

You might know that every infrastructure in China is on being-developed. As for internet, the bandwidth is pretty narrow, for example, you can choose from 1Mb up to 2Mb ADSL here. I don't think you have 2Mb option in Japan for ADSL. What I want to say is I could not access to your site from here, you are right, I am in China.

I've changed this issue from bug report to feature request. You are right, posting on Support forum is good strategy for more page view. However, what if Jose missed our post? My most concern is that Jose know our needs :-)

Maybe I should begin to concentrate more on contents on my site and make it online :-)

So you are the other two guys using the module! :-)

About that 'terms translation', you first have to create the terms for each language, as normal terms, and then you can define some translation relations between them. When you have a term in several languages, and you are seeing a taxonomy page for one of them, the links in the Languages block will point to the right translation for each term.

Currently, the module provides just options -like defining language for terms and for vocabularies and managing path alias with and without language- and only takes care of selecting the right vocabs/terms for each page depending on language. But how you should actually use them, I just couldn't tell...

I mean, I'm using multilingual terms for some sites, while just using path aliases for others, and Know of some people using it for multilingual dynamic menus... Just hope it's open enough for most of uses.... That's why I tend to document the module as 'how it works' more than as 'how to use it'

I'm trying to set up some online documentation -may be moved to some other Drupal related site in the future- here: http://www.reyero.net/en/drupal/i18n. I will be updating the module's documentation in the next days preparing a 4.6 release...

Any 'how to' guide to be included maybe in a separate document will be welcomed...

Hahaha, thanks for your reply, Jose.

Here I got a question and a bug report.

>About that 'terms translation', you first have to create the terms for each language, as normal terms, and then you can define some translation relations between them.

I don't think I understand how to do that. What I want to do is very simple, say categories for story look like below

Animals
-Dogs
-Cats
-Fish

and I hope to put corresponding languages behind English words,

Animals/动物/動物
-Dogs/狗/イヌ
-Cats/猫/ネコ
-Fish/鱼/さかな

so that I can create a story on Dogs and then translate the exact same entry into Chinese and Japanese.

Now I have to make categories of this style, like "Animals/动物/動物" on my drupal :-(

Ok, this is not big problem anyways.

There is a serious bug. Forums' containers and forums are synchronized with Categories in 4.6.0. But my drupal(A) has problem on this issue: They don't synchronize each other.

I clean-installed 4.6.0(B) and activated forum.module. Everything works perfectly. Then I made B connect to A's database. NOOOooo, they do not synchroniz each other. How about A connecting to B's database then? Yes, works very well.

What does it mean? I guess A's table got problem.

Jose, your site has no forums on it. Do you mind if you activate forum.module on your site? Thanks!

First many thanks for the module. One of the more elegant multi-lingual solutions I've seen.

I would like add another voice to the feature request. I am not *extremely* proficient in PHP but I offer my help to get this feature in.
