Chat window displays no text

I'm experiencing this sometimes. Most of the times everything works, but on occasion in IE when I come to the chatroom the following happens:

* no users besides myself are in the chatroom
* no old chats
* unable to send message

This happens about every 7-8th time, which is enough to cause confusion for my portal's non-tech-savvy users.

If I log in as admin on Firefox and watch myself logging in through IE, it says that I joined the chat and then left the chat. Then on IE I see the blank chatbox. On my system monitor I see the CPU going quite high for a little while.

Maybe while it's loading it gets no response and assumes that the client is dead, then when the client is back up the channel/connection to chat is already closed?

That's what it feels like.

Any ideas on this?

I'm running into something that seems like a similar issue. Firefox reports the following Javascript error:

Error: chatroom is not defined
