I downloaded the TinyMCE module, installed it in sites/all/modules/tinymce/, enabled the module, and enabled access controls for the administrator and both types of users. But when I go to create a new node, I don't see any option to use TinyMCE for inputting the text.
In Site configuration > TinyMCE, there is the error "Could not find the TinyMCE engine installed at modules/tinymce/tinymce/. Please download TinyMCE, uncompress it and copy the folder into modules/tinymce." Note the "tinymce/tinymce". There's no such path. So I created a subdirectory "tinymce" inside of sites/all/modules/tinymce/, and then moved all of the files down into sites/all/modules/tinymce/tinymce/. But then it complains that it could not find the engine in modules/tinymce/tinymce/tinymce/ ! Now it's in triplicate! :-)
The link in the error message, "download TinyMCE", points to http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/, and their download page has a section "TinyMCE for Drupal" under "Thirdparty TinyMCE implementations". But that just points right back to the Drupal page (http://drupal.org/project/tinymce), where I downloaded it in the first place.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

yea, you're not reading the README properly - you'll be here a lot if you keep doing that;)
Go to http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/download.php
and download this: tinymce_2_1_3.zip
uncompress it and that is what you need to put at modules/tinymce/tinymce

TinyMCE now working; correction to breadcrumbs
Thanks for the reply. Actually, I did read the file README.TXT -- twice. Nowhere in there does it indicate that the full TinyMCE code at that download page needs to be installed into modules/tinymce/tinymce. Nonetheless, I have now installed the files into that directory, and that took care of the error message. After I created a TinyMCE profile, it started to work.
For anyone else puzzled by the README.TXT instructions, where it currently states "administer > settings > tinymce", replace that with "Administer > Site configuration > TinyMCE".

double check that you installed the correct version of the module for the version of drupal that you're using-- usually when modules don't appear it's because the versions don't match.

Ahh. Does the latest - 3.something - not work? Can't find the version mentioned eariler :-(
That's the tinymce version,
That's the tinymce version, i"m talking about the drupal module version. If you're using d5 you need to use the d5 version of the module, if you're using d6 then you need to use the d6 version of the module. For the specifics of the tinymce part of the installation you'll need to follow the instructions in the README.txt file of the particular version of the drupal module you're using.

Wysiwyg API
You might want to try the Wysiwyg API, too.
When I've installed Tinymce
When I've installed Tinymce - I putted tinymce in modules/tinymce/tinymce and when I want to edit tinymce profil I get message : "warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/deployer/www/emporion-informatika/includes/form.inc on line 1194."
What it can be?
Cannot get TinyMCE working
Me too... "warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/deployer/www/emporion-informatika/includes/form.inc on line 1194." I am using Drupal 6.8 and tinymce_3_2_1_1. Even though with tt warning i carried on with the configuring of the user profile. The warning somehow disappeared.
I even set my default from Filtered HTML to Full HTML (Not sure if tt helps but i was following one of the successful case i did before previously hosted by freedrupal5hosting using Drupal 5.11. Now i need to get it done on my localhost).
But my TinyMCE still doesn't show up!
Probably not what you want
Probably not what you want to hear-- but I've recently given up on tinymce and replaced it with fckeditor on all my sites. The current version of fckeditor is orders of magnitude better than tiny and a pleasure to configure in comparison.

FCKeditor...
I tried FCKeditor, it is much easier to install than tinyMCE.
Thanks for recommending... I think it works now...
Here is an article about how
Here is an article about how to install TinyMCE in Drupal, hopefully, it will help.
http://www.agilelight.com/drupal/how-to-install-tinymce-to-drupal
There is a draft user guide
There is a draft user guide for TinyMCE at
http://drupal.org/node/281243
Although this is a user guide it does make a few comments on the installation. In particular, it states:
"The other problem with TinyMCE is that it is extremely hard to install. You have to follow exactly all the instructions and there are a lot of them. Further, to use it well it requires an extra program (normally IMCE) to allow the user to upload files. The interfacing between these programs cause a complete new set of installation problems. Note: While there are several options for uploading files, IMCE is the most powerful and the documentation here assumes IMCE.
At the time of writing this, the next most powerful editor within the Drupal set is FCKeditor. This is still a lot more powerful than the other available editors but is nowhere near as powerful as TinyMCE. The current version of FCKeditor misses out most of the CSS capabilities that TinyMCE has and that, while one of the most complex parts, is probably the best part of TinyMCE. It also has very limited Table capabilities. Although still hard to set up it's a lot easier than TinyMCE. It includes its own file handling capabilities so you don't have to link it in with another module like IMCE."
At the moment TinyMCE is still the most powerful editor if power is what you want. You really wouldn't want to give this to users because you would be trying to restrict them rather than giving them maximum editing flexibility.
Note that as well as the TinyMCE module there are other methods of implementing it. Check out the TinytinyMCE module. This is a bit easier to implement with only a little loss of flexibility.
I see a few people being confused by the /modules directory. For current Drupal installations the modules directory for everything that the user adds is always /sites/all/modules. You shouldn't be adding anything to the lower /modules directory as that is now just Drupal core. Many references will just talk about the modules directory for historical reasons, (all modules use to be there).
Hope this helps
