I recently got a specific request to assign different roles to people coming from different countries
(based on their IP-address or, based on a country select list, ... )

I know this could easily be tricked, but the main idea that clients are from other continents and the competitors are from the same continent... yeah ;)
Each one will have other initial permissions.

Anyone implemented this kind of functionality, or sees use for it?

This has been floating around for a without anyone else requesting the functionality so I'm tentatively marking closed. Feel free to open it if your willing to take a pass at a patch.

Hi,

I know this issue is kinda old but I was wondering about this functionality as well. My plan is to use such a functionality for ubercart.
Then I could create prices based on a country the user has given while signing up.

Willing to take a pass at a patch, not sure how that will go tho. Will this be a major thing to implement?
